The Capital District Transportation Committee (CDTC) will hold a virtual information session on November 4 at 12 pm to present on its $5,000 Bicycle Safety Trainings Grant Program and Walk & Roll to School Toolkit that regional schools can use to promote bicycle safety and encourage active transportation in 2023.

Attendees will hear from Emily McDonald, LMSW. Emily, a social worker at Paige Elementary School in Schenectady, launched her school’s first-ever Walk & Roll to School event in 2022. Emily will share what worked to make her event successful and the lessons she learned while planning an event for the first time. Other presenters will cover the planned expansion of CDTC’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Materials Program, which offers free educational materials such as traffic safety-oriented activity and comic books and safety gear such as safety vests and bicycle lights to schools, municipalities, and non-profits to hand out at events.

To register for the virtual information session, visit Visit for more information and to obtain the guidelines and application for the Bicycle Safety Trainings Grant Program. Grant applications are due by November 30, 2022, for events held in the 2023 calendar year.
