CDTC seeks public input on regional transportation planning activities in 2023-2024.
ALBANY, NY November 14, 2022 – The Capital District Transportation Committee (CDTC) issued a call for local and regional transportation planning initiatives for inclusion in CDTC’s 2023-2024 Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP) in October and the proposal deadline is fast approaching. The UPWP assigns federal transportation planning funds made available through CDTC from the Federal Highway Administration and the Federal Transit Administration to communities in the Capital District. Planning project proposals must advance the principles of the metropolitan transportation plan, New Visions 2050, and be consistent with planning factors in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. The 2023-2024 UPWP covers the period April 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024 and an estimated $1 million in federal funds will be available for planning activities.
“As CDTC prepares to receive proposals from municipalities and member organizations for planning work in the next fiscal year, the public’s perspective and concerns related to the regional transportation network will be considered. CDTC intends to strategically invest in activities that have the biggest impact on communities and all the different users of the transportation system while supporting regional, state, and federal goals.” said Sandy Misiewicz, CDTC Executive Director.
A short survey was created to collect opinions on the types of transportation plans that can be included in the 2023-2024 program. Questions include what transportation issues are of concern to the public and the size and scope of planning activities that should be prioritized. The survey can be found at www.cdtcmpo.org/2023upwp. Those without internet or computer access can call CDTC at (518) 458-2161 and complete the survey by phone.
The survey will be open until 5:00 pm on Wednesday, November 30th when project proposals are due. The public will have a chance to provide feedback on the prioritized planning projects in early February 2023.
