Capital District Clean Communities
The Capital District Clean Communities Coalition (CDCC) was established in 1999 to advance the Capital Region’s economic, environmental, and energy security by promoting the use of alternative fuels, advanced vehicle technologies and policies that reduce petroleum consumption in transportation. The Capital Region Transportation Council, the Metropolitan Planning Organization for the Capital Region, manages the coalition as part of their staff’s tasks. The Capital Region provides substantial opportunities for the expansion of the alternative fuel marketplace, through the large state and private vehicle fleets that operate in the area. CDCC members think outside the barrel by committing to reducing their petroleum use, promoting alternative fuels and advanced vehicle technologies, and advocating for idle reduction policies.
CDCC is a partner of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Clean Cities & Communities Program , which is a network of nearly 100 coalitions across the country. CDCC serves 12 counties: Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Fulton, Montgomery, Schoharie, Otsego, Greene, Columbia, Warren and Washington. The CDCC’s 80+ members from 60+ different local governments, agencies, organizations and businesses provide educational and networking opportunities on alternative fuels, advanced vehicle technologies and alternative fuel vehicles.
