The public is invited to give their input on where and how Complete Streets designs can improve mobility in Castleton.
ALBANY, NY May 21, 2024 – The Village of Castleton-on-Hudson, in partnership with the Capital Region Transportation Council (Transportation Council), invite the public to participate in a workshop for the Castleton Complete Streets Study. The meeting will take place on Wednesday, May 29 from 3:30-6:00pm at the Castleton Elementary School Cafeteria (80 Scott Ave, Castleton, NY 12033). Children are encouraged to attend, and activities will be provided.
The meeting will gather community feedback about where bicycle and pedestrian facilities should go in the village and what designs work best for them. Attendees will have the opportunity to provide input on priority locations and the types of improvements. Public feedback will inform the recommendations to be developed for the village and shared with the public later in the study. If unable to attend, the public is also invited to provide feedback on the project website https://castletonstreets.com/ through a survey and interactive map.
The Castleton-on-Hudson Complete Streets Study will develop a plan to implement Complete Streets that are safe and convenient for travel by all modes of transportation by promoting elements that can reduce vehicular speed and congestion, improve safety for bicyclists and pedestrians, and encourage economic growth.
Castleton-on-Hudson mayor Michael Slik said, “We are excited about this project to identify ways to increase safety for all road users and especially for pedestrians and bicyclists. This public meeting is a great opportunity for our community to share their experience and vision of transportation in the village”.
Transportation Council Executive Director Sandra Misiewicz said, “Developing a plan for Complete Streets is a critical first step for the Village of Castleton-on-Hudson to make their streets safer for all who use them, particularly pedestrians. Safety is a top priority of the Transportation Council, and we are thrilled to be able to provide funding and staff support for this initiative.”
