Transportation Council to Hear Initial Concepts to Reimagine I-787

The Transportation Council will also be briefed on the Capital Region Vision Zero Safety Action Plan.

ALBANY, NY May 31, 2024 – The Policy Board of the Capital Region Transportation Council (Transportation Council) will convene on June 6, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. to hear a presentation by NYSDOT Region 1 on the initial concepts for the Reimagine I-787 Planning and Environmental Linkages (PEL) Study. This presentation will condense the information shared during the May 2024 Open House held at the Albany Capital Center. The relationship of the proposed concepts with recent announcements in the City of Albany, particularly the potential for a Major League Soccer stadium, will likely be discussed.

The Policy Board will also act on eight CDTA project amendments to the 2022-2027 Transportation Improvement Program, including one new project, as well as the addition of six new projects to be funded through the Section 5310 Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities Program.   7. T77, CDTC20 – Capital Cost of Contracting for Commuter Service, $2.243 M
  8. T152, CDTA08 – Mobility Hubs (new project), $0.55 M
  9. T153, 1824.99 – St. Peters Hospital Foundation, 1 New Lot E Expansion Vehicle (new project), $0.110 M
  10. T154, 1825.00 – Center for Disability Services, 6 New Lot I Replacement Vehicles (new project), $1.105 M
  11. T155, 1825.01 – Samaritan Hospital and the Eddy Foundation, on behalf of Senior Care Connections, Inc., 2 new Lot E Replacement Vehicles and 2 new Lot E Expansion Vehicles (new project), $0.439 M
  12. T156, 1825.02 – Bethlehem Senior Projects, 1 New Lot E Replacement Vehicle and New Route Scheduling Software (new project), $0.130 M
  13. T157, 1825.04 – Catholic Charities/Tri-County Services, Operating Assistance, Schenectady County, $0.449 M
  14. T158, 1825.05 – NYSARC, Inc. Saratoga County Chapter, 2 New Lot K Replacement Vehicles and 1 New Lot E Replacement Vehicle, $0.557 M

Additional action items include Resolution 24-3 to amend the 2024-2025 Unified Planning Work Program along with review and approval of Draft Goals and Objectives for the In Motion Metropolitan Transportation Plan for public review. Action items will be followed by a presentation on the status of the Capital Region Vision Zero Safety Action Plan, funded through a Safe Streets and Roads for All Program federal grant, and discussion regarding the status of state, regional, and local transportation planning initiatives.
