ALBANY, NY July 11, 2025 Community members are invited to learn about In Motion: The Plan to 2050 and share feedback directly with the Capital Region Transportation Council (Transportation Council). The final survey seeks reaction to the plan’s revised goals and draft strategies. TheMTP Revised Goals and Draft Transportation Planning Strategies Surveyis live through the end of July.

To comply with federal law, the Transportation Council is required to develop a Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) for the Capital Region, a plan that covers no less than a 20-year planning horizon. To be known as In Motion: The Plan to 2050, the MTP identifies a comprehensive set of strategies and actions aimed at ensuring that transportation investments align with the needs and aspirations of all users of the transportation system. The plan includes a shared vision for the future, supported by goals and objectives, and progress will be measured through several performance metrics. The plan has been in development since 2023, under the guidance of a Task Force, and is slated for adoption in September. Input gathered from the survey and public events will inform the final stages of development of the plan.
