Transportation Council Announces Regional Transportation Plan Webinar and Open House

In Motion: The Plan to 2050 is to be released for public review on August 6.

ALBANY, NY August 5, 2025 – The Capital Region Transportation Council (Transportation Council) will host a virtual public meeting webinar and an in-person Open House in support of its draft regional transportation plan known as In Motion: The Plan to 2050. The draft plan, also known as a metropolitan transportation plan, articulates a future vision for transportation in the Capital Region supported by measurable goals and objectives. To achieve this future vision, the Plan identifies strategies and actions aimed at ensuring that transportation investments align with the needs and aspirations of all transportation system users.

The plan has been in development since 2023 under the guidance of a 38-member Task Force comprised of Capital Region elected officials, community planning and engineering staff members, state and regional governmental agencies and authorities, economic development related organizations, local universities, and other subject matter experts.

The Transportation Council’s Planning Committee will act to release the draft plan for public review on August 6 which will be followed by two public events:

  • August 7: Virtual Public Meeting Webinar – Noon to 1 p.m. delivered via Zoom webinar. Register at: tinyurl.com/InMotionlunchandlearn. A recording will be made available following the event on the draft plan’s website at www.inmotionplan.org/participate.
  • August 12: Community Open House – Delaware Avenue Branch of the Albany Public Library (331 Delaware Avenue, Albany NY 12209) from 4 to 6 p.m. All are welcome to attend in person!

The final survey related to the In Motion Plan will close on August 15. Take the survey at www.inmotionplan.org/participate. Additional comments on the draft plan will be accepted through September 3 by:
