The Transportation Council is also issuing a solicitation for community transportation planning projects
ALBANY, NY September 26, 2024 – The Planning Committee of the Capital Region Transportation Council (Transportation Council) will convene on October 2, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. to hear a presentation MJ Engineering, on the US Route 4 Corridor Study.
With a primary study area from Mannix Rd to NY 43 in the Towns of East and North Greenbush, the study sought to:
- Address current traffic operations deficiencies
- Identify improvements needed to accommodate future anticipated growth
- Make recommendations to improve the transportation systems along the corridor
- Examine alternative corridor profiles and develop a preferred Corridor Concept Plan for the US Route 4
- Assist the Towns to pursue goals of enhancing the US Route 4 corridor
- Improve mobility
- Reduce traffic congestion
- Promote economic development
- Improve safety
- Create a connected and integrated multi-modal transportation network
- Land Use and Zoning
The Planning Committee is also issuing a solicitation for community transportation planning projects and will also act on two amendments to its capital program, known as the Transportation Improvement Program:
- SA342, 1759.19: CR 109 Kinns Road/Plank Road Intersection Improvement in the Town of Clifton Park, Saratoga County – $2.530M cost increase.
- T159, CDTA.09: CDTA Schenectady Maintenance, Training and Operating Facility Purchase in the City of Schenectady, Schenectady County – New project with a $0.900M cost increase.
