The Planning Committee will hear presentations on wind turbine transportation and the Vision Zero Safety Action Plan.
ALBANY, NY July 3, 2025 – The Planning Committee of the Capital Region Transportation Council (Transportation Council) will convene on July 9, 2025 at 9:30 a.m. Planning Committee members will hear two presentations, one on the draft recommendations being considered for the Capital Region Vision Zero Safety Action Plan and the other on the challenges of transporting wind turbines on the regional roadway network.
The Planning Committee will also act on an amendment to the 2022-2027 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) for a $0.883M cost increase on a project in the City of Cohoes. The Columbia Street Pedestrian Accessibility and Safe Routes to School Enhancement (TIP ID #A614) intends to reconstruct existing sidewalks, rehabilitate the roadway surface, install new traffic signals, and add bike lanes along Columbia Street for most of the corridor between Mohawk Avenue to Baker Avenue. Additional action items include amendments to the 2025-2026 Unified Planning Work Program and project recommendations for the NYSDOT Roadway Departure Safety Action Plan Local Call for Projects.
